You can assign categories and group them in the catalog when entering items. However, as items are entered when they arrive, their item numbers are often not contiguous within a category. The item renumbering page can reassign item numbers so they are grouped by category.
To set this up, click on Items in the main Auction Dashboard menu and then click Numbering.
For Item Renumbering a Group By Category, you would use the Bulk Renumbering functionality.
In this example, we want to renumber our Paper Bidding Type only so the first "category" starts at 100, 101, 102, etc., and the following "category" at 200, 201, 202, etc.
Settings
There are four fields to set in the Settings panel at the top of the page.

Choose Items
In the bottom part of the page, use the Choose Items control to select just the Paper Bidding Type.
Use the options (three vertical dots) icon to open the menu to choose the Specific Item Types option.

Check the Paper checkbox.

Finally, click on the Renumber Items button to trigger the renumbering process.
The results page will show how the items were renumbered.
