How Do Bidders Pay?

Each Organization can determine how they would like their bidders to pay for items from their auction(s).

Example: Stripe and Credit Card Payment

For items bought/won through the website, we will consider this example as using Stripe for Credit Cards processing and a credit card payment is expected from the purchaser/winning bidder.

Online Items

For Online Items including Buy It Now Only Items:

  • Payment is made after the item is closed.
  • The amount is charged to the credit card either initiated by the bidder or through the auction dashboard.
    • If initiated by the bidder:
      • the bidder signs into the website to view their account and pay;
      • the bidder uses the Bidder Statements email containing a pay online link; or,
      • the bidder users their "winning bid notification" email containing a pay online link.
    • If initiated through the auction dashboard:
      • an Admin user can use the Record Purchases option to Checkout a specific bidder; or,
      • an Admin user can initiate a Batch Checkout. The batch checkout will process a payment equal to the outstanding balance for all bidders.

For Sale Items

For For Sale Items:

  • bidders do not have to be registered first;
  • a bidder record will be created if one does not exist (to track the purchase);
  • the purchase amount is charged to the credit card when the purchase steps are completed; and,
  • the bidder has the option to choose to save their credit card details (checked by default).
