Will bidders registering online create duplicates?
If a bidder is first added through the dashboard, will another bidder record be created when the bidder registers online?
The event website recognizes bidders by their email address.
If a bidder is added from the dashboard, the guest must register with the same email that was entered to update the same record. If the guest registers with a different email, the system will create a new bidder record.
When a bidder is added from the dashboard and
- a guest registers online with the same email that you had entered, it will use the same record.
- the guest registers with a different email, it will create a new bidder record.
- if an email address is not entered in the bidder record, a new record will be created when the guest registers online.
When bidders are added from the dashboard (including email addresses), Bidder Invitations can be emailed. The registration link in the email will update the same bidder record. There is more information on Bidder Invitations in the User Guide.
If two records are created for 1 bidder, you can use the Merge Bidder function from the Bidder Summary screen to combine them into 1 bidder record.
