Canceled Tickets
If you were selling tickets to your event then a major part of the response will be handling what happens to those when the event is postponed or canceled.
There are several options you have regarding tickets:
- Refund ticket sales
- Ask guests to consider their ticket a straight donation instead
- Hold the tickets for a future event unless the guest requests otherwise
- Consider the amount paid for the ticket as a credit in an online auction.
Refunding Tickets
If you need to refund a ticket then it is a two step process.
- Delete the record of the ticket purchase
- Refund or delete the payment
Auctria allows for full (and partial) refunds through the credit cards integrations -- see How To Refund Tickets.
Credit Card Fees
When a full credit card refund is triggered through Auctria then we will always refund our portion of the fee.
The payment processor's fees are something that will depend on your account with Stripe or Authorize.Net and your merchant processor. For the most up to date information please contact them directly.
Stripe Refund Policy
Stripe's most recent refund policy, in line with many payment processors is not to refund the fees. Some older Stripe accounts however did have a grand-fathered policy of getting all fees refunded. But that too is in the process of changing.
March 13, 2020: we are in contact with Stripe to try and obtain relief from these fees for affected groups. We will provide more information as it is available. In the meantime if you need to issue a significant number of refunds it would be worth reaching out to Stripe directly via support@stripe.com to ask them what they can do.
Converting Tickets To Donations
If your guests agree to convert their ticket purchases into donations there are two steps in Auctria to record this:
- Delete the record of the ticket purchase
- Record a donation for the same amount
See How To Turn A Ticket Into A Donation for some more information.
Online Ticket Sales
If you have been selling tickets on your event website you will likely need to remove those elements.
There are a couple of ways to stop ticket sales displaying on your Event website without impacting previous sales and purchases -- see Unknown link 'RemoveTicketSalesFromWebsite'.
